Selling an old Vivo or Oppo phone in India

Vivo and Oppo sell enormous volumes through offline stores, and that changes what their phones are worth second-hand.

The offline pricing effect

Both brands sell heavily through neighbourhood stores where the real transaction price often includes a discount, a bundled accessory or an exchange. That means the "launch price" a retention percentage is measured against is frequently higher than what the original owner actually paid.

For a seller this matters in one practical way: judge your quote against what similar handsets are fetching today, not against the MRP you remember. Our price list shows the current ceiling, which is the only number that matters at resale.

Accounts and locks

  1. Vivo: Settings › vivo account › sign out, and turn off Find Phone.
  2. Oppo/Realme: Settings › your HeyTap/OPPO ID › sign out, and turn off Find My Device.
  3. Remove the Google account.
  4. Factory reset, then confirm setup asks for nothing.

What gets inspected closely

  • Curved edges — hairline cracks along a curve are easy to miss and expensive to repair.
  • In-display fingerprint sensor — test it before quoting; a failed sensor is a fault.
  • Camera decoration ring — cosmetic damage here is graded with the back panel.
  • Charging port — VOOC-class fast charging is hard on ports over time.

Funtouch and ColorOS: the software checks

Both brands ship heavily customised Android, and both keep cloud services that survive a factory reset if you do not clear them. That is the single most common reason a Vivo or Oppo pickup fails at the door.

  1. Open the cloud app — vivo Cloud or HeyTap Cloud — and sign out there as well as in Settings.
  2. Turn off Find Phone or Find My Device inside the security section.
  3. Check whether a second user or a private space exists; both hold data a reset from the main profile can miss.
  4. Install the last available update, then reset from Settings rather than from recovery so the account state clears properly.

It is also worth knowing that both skins keep an app clone feature. If you cloned WhatsApp or a payment app, that clone has its own data — check it before wiping, because a platform backup will not include it.

Frequently asked questions

Do Vivo and Oppo phones hold value well?
Their flagship lines hold reasonably well; the high-volume Y, T, F and A series depreciate quickly because new units are discounted aggressively through offline stores.
Do I need to remove a vivo or HeyTap account before selling?
Yes. Both maintain their own cloud accounts with device-finding locks that survive a factory reset if left signed in.
Does a curved screen affect resale value?
It raises the repair cost, so cracked curved displays deduct more than flat ones. Undamaged, it makes no difference.
Where can I see current Vivo and Oppo prices?
Our live price lists carry the current ceiling for every model and storage variant we buy.
Do cloned apps on Vivo or Oppo phones get wiped in a factory reset?
Yes, but their data is not covered by a normal platform backup. Back up anything inside a cloned app before you reset, or it is gone.
